The pair confirmed they were in a relationship in May 2022, months after Kai joined the hit show as a professional dancer. Nadiya, who has been a part of the BBC One dance contest since 2017, and Kai initially denied that they were romantically involved for months, despite being featured in photos that seemed to show them kissing.
It was Nadiya who eventually confirmed they were in a relationship when she opened up about their romance to the Daily Mail's Weekend magazine, saying at the time: "We've been seeing each other properly for a couple of months now. "It's early days and we've been rehearsing for the Strictly Professionals tour, so there's been very little free time."
