Ryan Thomas has described being offered Dancing on Ice as 'fate' after a moment just before with his teenage daughter. The actor is one of the 12 celebrities that have signed up for the ITV skating competition this year.
Ryan, 39, has been paired with English pair skater Amani Fancy in her first year as a pro skater on the hit show. They'll face the likes of world champion boxer Ricky Hatton, singer Hannah Spearritt, West End star Amber Davies and Olympian Greg Rutherford when the competition begins on Sunday (January 14).
Ahead of his debut performance, as it has been revealed he'll skate in week one of the competition alongside fellow celebs Greg, Amber, Hannah, Ricky and Emmerdale actress Roxy Shahidi, the former Coronation Street star has been opening up about his chances in the competition, why he decided to sign-up and if his Strictly Come Dancing star brother Adam Thomas has been offering any advice. When asked what made him want to take on the challenge, it appears his daughter Scarlett, who he shares with Corrie star ex Tina O'Brien and who may also known for starring in the reboot of Waterloo Road, had a say. "It was like it was fate," Ryan said. "The week before I got the phone call my 15-year-old daughter had just out of the blue said to me, 'Dad will you do Dancing on Ice?' "It was so random when she said it to me and I had just said, 'Maybe one day Scarlett'.
