Amy Dowden has been comforted by Strictly Come Dancing's It Takes Two host Janette Manrara after being forced to withdraw from the competition.

The professional dancer, 34, was participating in the BBC dance contest alongside her celebrity partner JB Gill, but was replaced by fellow pro dancer Lauren Oakley last weekend in her absence.

It was then confirmed earlier this week that the Amy would not be returning to the dancefloor for the remainder of this year's series, and has now insisted it has 'nothing to do with' her breast cancer diagnosis last year or her Crohn's disease. "This injury could have happened to anybody.

I want to stress it's nothing to do with any previous health scares." Amy had returned to the BBC favourite for the 20th anniversary series after tests earlier this year showed "no sign" of breast cancer and she is hoping to be back on the dancefloor in a group routine by the time the current series ends next month.
