Gabby Logan is set to host the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards later this month, taking to the BBC stage alongside co-hosts Clare Balding and Alex Scott.
However, the TV presenter has revealed that she can sometimes be hit with pain from a recurring elbow injury whilst broadcasting. "I was doing loads of padel and golf, but I’ve had tennis elbow for about three months, which I haven’t had time to sort out,” she said in a chat with The Mirror. "I’ve had to modify all my gym training to accommodate it." Gabby's injury leaves her unable to do the hobbies she loves, such as golf, which she finds particularly frustrating. "I can’t swing a golf club, which is really annoying because I was enjoying my golf. There’s not much you can do to mitigate it.
It doesn’t respond to anything so it goes away and then comes back six months later." She sometimes experiences pain while on air, like during the Women's Euros when she had to present with a flare-up. “When I was at the Women’s Euros, I was having a flare up while I was holding the microphone, which was annoying,” she saud. “I realised the other day that it’s not great mentally when your hobbies are related to sport and you’re not able to do them – then you’re just working all the time.
I need to get my hobbies back.” Gabby is tackling her 12th year at the helm of Sports Personality of the Year, which will have its first-ever all-female presenting line-up after Gary Lineker chose to step down in November.
