BBC Radio 2 DJ Tony Blackburn, 80, diagnosed with sepsis after pneumonia battle

Tony Blackburn has been speaking about his dramatic health battle after he was hospitalised with a life-threatening condition earlier this year.

The Radio 2 DJ suffered from a bout of sepsis as well as pneumonia, but at first he’d been told it was just a chest infection.

The star, who was forced to pull out of his popular radio show and his Sound of the 60s Tour, has now opened up about the ordeal and revealed he also suffered blood poisoning on top of everything else.

Speaking on BBC Scotland, Tony revealed he’d been overdoing things when he fell ill.He said: “I was doing three a week at one time forgetting that I'm now a little bit older, so I ended up in hospital for two months with sepsis and pneumonia and blood poisoning.”The Mirror writes the former I’m a Celeb contestant revealed he didn’t actually realise how ill he was until his family gathered around his bedside.
