BBC presenter forced to pull out of live show after painful injury leaves her 'on crutches'
ok.co.ukBBC News presenter Sophie Raworth has been forced to pull out of a Prime Ministerial Debate after suffering a painful ankle injury.The broadcaster, 56, was set to moderate the upcoming debate, which will see Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer go head-to-head once again later this month.
However, Sophie has revealed that she is no longer medically able to host the show. A keen runner, Sophie said in a statement to The Mirror that she suffered an injury whilst running the London Marathon in April and had to quit the race after he ankle "blew up".
Since then, she has struggled with pain on the injured foot and has been left unable to walk on it. "The injury I picked up at the London marathon has now been diagnosed as a fracture in my ankle," she said. "I was only told this last week during the D-Day commemorations.
I’m now on crutches, in a boot and non-weight-bearing for some time." Today programme presenter Mishal Husain will be taking her place in moderating the debate.
