The BBC has issued an update after its sporting schedule was thrown into disarray this weekend. Presenters, commentators, and pundits, pulled out of various shows in solidarity with Gary Lineker 'stepping away' from Match of the Day in a row over impartiality.
Match of the Day is set to be shown tonight without pundits and analysis between games and the usual commentators. Football Focus, Final Score, and BBC 5 Live programmes were also replaced with pre-recorded shows as the presenters and contributors to these shows said they would not be involved.
The BBC has now released a statement apologising for the axing of its sports programming this weekend. It also said it was it is “working hard to resolve the situation and hope to do so soon”. READ MORE: The people who have joined the BBC boycott in solidarity with Gary Lineker as shows axed In a statement, a BBC spokesperson said: “The BBC will only be able to bring limited sport programming this weekend and our schedules will be updated to reflect that. “We are sorry for these changes which we recognise will be disappointing for BBC sport fans.
We are working hard to resolve the situation and hope to do so soon.” The presenters to pull out included Football Focus's Alex Scott, Final Score's Jason Mohammad, and Radio 5 Live's Mark Chapman.
