BBC host dramatically quits after 6 years: 'It's time to move on'

Martha Kearney, a host on BBC Radio 4, has shared news that she'll be leaving her presenting role on the Today programme after six years of service.

She will continue to run the show up until the next General Election, then with a heartfelt goodbye, she'll leave the high-profile broadcast.Talking about her choice to step down, Martha only had wonderful things to say about the popular radio show.

She expressed: "I have loved working on Today with its incredible reach and influence but now it's time to move on to pastures new - literally." Martha continued: “I am really looking forward to sharing my passion for nature in an exciting new series as well as a much-loved favourite programme.

And I won't be missing that 3am alarm call." This decision isn't sudden as she claimed: "I have been planning my move for a while now and the general election, which will be my eleventh, is the right point to move on." Post-departure, she'll still contribute to BBC Radio 4, taking part in varied projects after the following General Election.
