This morning's BBC Breakfast broadcast was interrupted for a major breaking news update concerning MasterChef presenter Gregg Wallace.
Wallace, who is currently facing historic misconduct allegations, which he strongly refutes, addressed the claims against him on Instagram today (December 1).
Presenters Ben Thompson and Luxmy Gopal temporarily stopped the programme to inform viewers of the latest developments. "In the past hour, Gregg Wallace has posted two videos on his Instagram about the allegations made against him during his time on MasterChef, let's show you those videos now," Luxmy announced, as they prepared to broadcast the clips.
The videos showed Wallace speaking to the camera from a neutral room adorned with framed pictures, reports the Express. In the initial video, Wallace recounted reading about "13 complaints" made against him from a "handful of middle-class women of a certain age, just from Celebrity MasterChef", before stating: "This isn't right." He elaborated in the follow-up video: "In over 20 years of television can you imagine how many women, female contestants on MasterChef, have made sexual remarks or sexual innuendo?
