BBC Breakfast viewers found themselves at odds on Wednesday morning as the programme's question of the day ignited a widespread debate.
As potato prices soar, Nina Warhurst visited a fish and chip processing plant in Blackpool. The BBC hosts didn't hesitate to quiz guests and fellow stars about their preferred way to eat the British classic.
However, Carol Kirkwood's culinary revelation caught Jon and Sally off guard. She admitted: "Well, I would have the fish and some dry chips, then when I finished the fish I would drown my chips in vinegar and a wee bit of salt. "You can squish them in and then just absorb it, in fact, I probably have chips with my vinegar rather than the other way around." A bewildered Jon queried: "What so you mush the chips?! " Carol confirmed her method, explaining she mashes them into the vinegar until they're thoroughly soaked and tender, reports the Express.
Sally was intrigued, responding: "I'm going to try that, that sounds amazing! ". Jon appeared less enthused, suggesting Carol might as well eat mashed potatoes, but she strongly objected.
