Bayern Munich are reportedly mulling over a potential swoop for Manchester United defender Raphael Varane. The defender has dropped down Erik ten Hag’s pecking order in recent weeks, having not started a Premier League game since September.
The 30-year-old has suffered frequent injury setbacks since joining United in August 2021, sustaining two issues this season already.
Upon returning from his most recent problem, he has been unable to edge out Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof from the centre-back positions and clubs are now monitoring what happens next. The report says the German champions have been told a January exit is possible. Varane’s contract runs out in 2025 and United will be required to decide whether to stick or twist in the summer when it comes to a contract renewal, if he is still at Old Trafford by then.
