Barry Ferguson admits it is 'clear as day' that fresh investment is needed at Rangers. The legendary Ibrox skipper offered his instant reaction after we dropped a huge exclusive this evening that Rangers are at the centre of a potentially transformative US led takeover bid - that deal would see them bankrolled by the San Francisco 49ers with top-level discussions believed to be at an 'advanced stage' after talks kicked off before the turn of the year.

Should an agreement be reached, it would benefit the Light Blues to the tune of a MAJOR cash injection which would then fund a big summer transfer spending spree.

One of the key men behind the proposal is Paraag Marathe. He's chairman of Leeds United. and in charge of the NFL giants' invest arm, 49ers Enterprises.
