Piers Morgan and Stephen Fry have led the tributes to comedy veteran Barry Cryer who died aged 86.The English writer was known for his talents as an actor and comedian, as well as writing for performers including Tommy Cooper, Les Dawson, Dick Emery, Kenny Everett, and Sir Bruce Forsyth.Broadcaster Piers branded Cryer a ‘giant of British comedy’ on social media and the 56-year-old journalist shared a photo of the late star smiling.He wrote: ‘RIP Barry Cryer, 86.
Such a warm, funny and talented man. A giant of British comedy. Thanks for all the laughs, Barry.’Actor Stephen also hailed Cryer as a ‘glorious, gorgeous and gifted’ writer in a touching message.
He tweeted: ‘Such sad news, one of the absolute greats of British comedy, Barry Cryer, is no more. A glorious, gorgeous, hilarious and gifted writer and performer who straddled all the comic traditions.
