Barney Walsh is probably best-known for working alongside his dad on TV. First came their hit show Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad.Then, last year, the pair were confirmed as the hosts of the BBC's reboot of huge 90s TV series Gladiators, which reaches the end of its successful run next weekend with a grand final on Saturday, 30 March.The 26 year old has also secured various acting roles in his career, including Law & Order: UK and Doctors.
But now all eyes are said to be on his role as Cam Mickelthwaite in the long-running BBC medical drama, Casualty, with Barney set to see his role boosted, according to a source.They say that with the departure of Charlie Fairhead star, Derek Thompson, after 38 years, Barney is 'set to replace' him. "Casualty are looking towards Barney, now that Charlie is gone," the source exclusively told OK! "Barney could be the next star of the show." After almost four decades on the show, Derek’s final scenes as Charlie were aired on Saturday, 16 March after his character was stabbed by a patient (played by Hollyoaks actor Angus Castle-Doughty).Thankfully, Charlie was discovered by friend Stevie Nash who had to fight to save his life – and to everyone’s surprise, she did.The incident however did prompt Charlie to hang up his nurse’s uniform.
