Barcelona reportedly rejected the opportunity to sign Raheem Sterling this month, according to reports. Earlier in the campaign, Xavi's side were fiercely linked with the England star who, at the time, was struggling for form with the Blues.
Pep Guardiola sparsely used Sterling during the autumn moves as the likes of Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus were all preferred.
As a result, Barca looked to pounce on the out-of-favour attacker looking to bolster their frontline with the 27-year-old, making their interest known.
But eventually, Xavi opted for another City player in Ferran Torres - completing his move at the beginning of the month. Spanish outlet Sport say Sporting Director, Mateu Alemany, was a fan of the former Liverpool winger but rejected the notion to sign him and chose to snap up Torres.
