‘Barbie’ overtakes ‘The Dark Knight’ to break box office record

Ethan Shanfeld Ryan Gosling showed off his singing and dancing chops in “Barbie” with its musical centerpiece, “I’m Just Ken.” Now, fans of the Greta Gerwig blockbuster can watch behind-the-scenes footage of Gosling rehearsing the epic pop number alongside his Ken co-stars including Simu Liu and Ncuti Gatwa. In the four-minute featurette, Gosling goes through the various stages of rehearsal as he makes Gerwig burst out laughing as he strips off his white fur coat. The video intercuts clips of Gosling practicing his moves in sweatpants and a backwards hat in a dance studio with footage from the finished film.

The DC superhero film “Blue Beetle” led weekend ticket sales with a modest $25.4 million opening, according to studio estimates Sunday, dethroning “Barbie” from the top spot after a record-setting run that left movie theatres coloured pink for a month.

The musical adaptation of the S.E. Hinton’s classic 1967 teen novel (and Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 film) The Outsiders will begin Broadway previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on Saturday, March 16, 2024 ahead of a Thursday, April 11, 2024 opening night, producers announced today.

MUNA teamed up with Boygenius for two songs last night (August 20) during the latter’s headline concert in London.Both bands shared vocals on MUNA’s ‘Silk Chiffon’ at the end of their support set at Gunnersbury Park before they teamed up again for ‘Salt In The Wound’, which featured on Boygenius’ 2018 debut EP, at the close of the supergroup’s set. Blue Beetle has dethroned Barbie at the US box office, ending the film’s four-week reign at the number one spot.As reported by Variety, the DC superhero film took the top spot with a lower-than-expected debut of $25.4million (£19.9million) in the US. Globally, the film earned $43million (£33.7million) in its opening weekend, against a production budget of $104million (£81.7million).Barbie, meanwhile, fell to second place with $21.5million (£16.8million), an impressive amount considering it was released last month.In the US, Barbie is expected to overtake The Super Mario Bros.

BreAnna Bell The Writers Guild of America has canceled its scheduled pickets in Los Angeles for Monday “in an abundance of caution” ahead of Hurricane Hilary’s expected arrival. The Conjuring film franchise, is suing Warner Bros. over claims the studio is hiding her “rightful share” to merchandise revenue profits.The actor, who plays Valak in 2016’s The Conjuring 2 and its subsequent spin-off The Nun, filed a complaint against Warner Bros., New Line Cinema and Scope Productions on Tuesday (August 15) in Los Angeles superior court.In the lawsuit (via The Hollywood Reporter), Aarons alleges she was paid $71,500 for her role in The Nun, along with a $175,000 bonus tied to the film’s box office performance and her share of profits from merchandise featuring her character.
