A cleaning expert has shared the 'best solution' to getting rid of mould that begins to fester on the washing machine seal.Mould can be a nightmare to take care of in any area of the home, but one problem place is the seal of your washing machine - where you're meant to clean your dirty laundry.Spotting mould on your washing machine is a very common "tell-tale sign" that the appliance is due a deep clean, reports the Express.Thankfully, Michael Forbes - product specialist at AEG - has shared his expertise on how to get rid of it as well as noting other ways to clean your washing machine properly. The expert said that the black, slimy residue forming on your seal can indicate the presence of black mould - which can build up and in turn appear on your supposedly clean washing.Michael explained: "Rubber door seals are especially prone to this as leftover water and soap scum can aid bacteria growth."He recommended using the "best solution" of white vinegar to combat this as it can "better penetrate into the rubber surface, killing the mould spores at their root".All you have to do is pour some white vinegar into a spray bottle and spritz it across the affected area of the seal, leaving it to soak for an hour.

Wipe the seal down afterwards with a wet, clean cloth. In order to prevent the mould from returning, you should get into the habit of wiping the seals down with a clean cloth after every wash cycle.

Michael said: "This will remove any leftover water residue and soap scum. It’s also best to leave the machine door open to dispel any damp air."The expert noted that smelling something unpleasant from your appliance can indicate another washing machine problem.
