Band hoping to give power to the people as new EP inspired by workers strikes is released

An Ayrshire band is hoping to provide the soundtrack to the worker's revolution.Ayr rock and roll group, The Mocking Byrds hope their latest work will give Power to the People, the name of their new track and their EP.The track, a nod to a John Lennon classic, has been released on the backdrop of national strikes, with rail workers and teachers amongst those who have held mass walk outs.Mocking Byrds frontman Jason Skimming Ayrshire Live: “Power to the people is an anthem for the people, that is what we had intended for it.“The songs and lyrics are inspired by what is going on in the world.“What we have seen is unions coming to the forefront, people realise there is strength of numbers, it’s a song to remind us what we are all doing.”Jason, the former front man of popular band Seaside Sons, teamed up with talented mates Gavin McMulkin (guitar), John Lauchlan (drummer) and Glen McKay (bass) to form the Byrds.The band headed north to Perthshire to record the EP with renowned producer Robin Evans who worked with the likes of the View and the Manic Street Preachers.
