Baldur’s Gate 3 has confirmed another major update, despite developers moving onto new projects.Back in March, Baldur’s Gate 3 developers Larian Studios confirmed it wouldn’t be releasing a sequel or an expansion to the hit game despite starting work on both projects before deciding to scrap them. “We’re not going to make [what] everybody is expecting.
We’re going to move on,” explained CEO Swen Vincke. However, that hasn’t stopped the team from updating the hit game. In September, Patch Seven introduced new cinematics, bug fixes and an official modding kit.
Developers also promised a number of fan-requested features would be added in a future update. “The journey isn’t over yet.” And now Larian has confirmed when those new additions will make their way into Baldur’s Gate 3.
Patch Eight is due to launch at some point next year and will include a new photo mode, cross-play and a new subclasses for all existing classes. “Expect new abilities, animations, VFX, summons and cantrips, and unique voiced dialogue lines for the Oathbreaker Knight with written reactivity for Oathbreakers, along with a touch of homebrewing on certain actions to enhance your role-playing experience,” reads the patch notes.
