A balding dog has been found cruelly abandoned at a Scots farm almost 100 miles away from its home address. The shocking discovery was made by a member of the public, who stumbled across the animal at a farm in Slamannan in Falkirk yesterday.

The pooch was found in a very poor condition, with its fur matted in some places and patchy in others. It was taken to a vet, where it emerged the dog was microchipped to an address in Gretna, Dumfries and Galloway - where his owners no longer reside.

The dog has since been put into a rescue centre, where it will receive the care until it is rehomed. Scottish SPCA inspector, Mairi Wright, said, “The dog was handed in to the vet in poor condition with matted fur and bald patches.

The dog was microchipped to an address in Gretna but the owners are no longer at that address. “We understand that people’s circumstances can change, but this is not the right way to give up an animal if you can no longer care for them.
