Balaclava yobs flee scene of hit-and-run in Barrhead as car set to be written off

A Barrhead mum whose daughter’s car was smashed in an alleged hit-and-run says she could have been killed.Lisa Coupar is appealing for information after a car collided with her daughter’s vehicle on Divernia Way and flipped on the opposing carriageway.

Three people in the car reportedly fled the scene wearing balaclavas.Lisa took to social media over the weekend to appeal for information, while warning locals to look out for young men who appear injured in the coming days – explaining they could not have escaped the wreckage without being hurt.Lisa said: “Three boys aged about 17 to 18 years old crashed into my daughter’s car outside our house in Barrhead and then ran away with balaclavas on!“Also keep an eye out for your sons coming home injured as there’s no way they’ve walked away from this without a scrape!

We’re so lucky she wasn’t in the car at the time and that they didn’t kill anyone driving like that!”The incident took place around 4.25pm on Thursday, February 13.

Now Lisa, and her student daughter Karmen, have been left counting the cost from the damage to her car as it’s understood there was no insurance on the black hatchback that crashed into it.Lisa added: “We have since found out the car is uninsured, meaning we will need to cover the costs.
