Car with lights off smashes into van on Glasgow street 'as driver tries to flee'

A driver who was travelling with no lights on has been arrested after ploughing into a parked van on a Glasgow street. Police say they ordered the driver of a white Mazda to pull over after spotting the motor illegally traveling on Westfield Drive, Glasgow.But the driver ignored demands and crashed into a parked van in Knightswood.

The driver, a 38-year-old man, allegedly tried to flee the scene on foot but was hunted down by officers.He was found to be disqualified from driving and was driving without insurance.

Police arrested the man for road traffic offences, including dangerous driving. The vehicle was seized from the scene.A post shared on Police Scotland Greater Glasgow's social media showed the damage to the front of the car.
