When embarking on a parenting journey, one of the toughest challenges to face new mums and dads is deciding what to name their little one, especially as that name will be with them for the rest of their lives.
For some parents the decision is easy, with names picked out long before their little one was even a twinkle, yet for others it’s a battle to find a name that not only suits their personality but also keeps the rest of the family happy.
However, with name trends constantly changing and more and more people opting for a unique moniker, a number of classics are now all on the brink of extinction, with Keanu, Peggy, Kiera, Maddy and Nelson among the names that could soon vanish altogether, according to UK parenting resource, BabyCentre.
Experts believe that the decline this year may be due to a changing trend that has seen new mums and dads shy away from celebrity related names, such as Bruno, after singer Bruno Mars, and Vivienne, after the late fashion designer Vivienne Westwood - both of which had previously dominated the baby naming trends of recent years.
