Ayrshire councillor rescues screaming woman, 81, trapped underneath a car

dailyrecord.co.ukNorth Ayrshire's Jim Montgomerie sprang into action after hearing the 81-year-old screaming from underneath the motor.The Labour politician was driving near the Windy Ha pub in Saltcoats when he ran to the elderly woman's aid along with a number of concerned onlookers.Councillor Montgomerie explained: "I saw a commotion at the side of the road. "I've never heard screams like it, so I pulled over and when I got closer could see the lady was badly hurt and trapped under the car her husband was driving at the time."A woman was holding her head trying to comfort her while others tried to lift the car off of her."I tried to help lift the car which was getting us nowhere, then I thought to let the handbrake off and myself and another man pushed.
