Ayr United have made a move to land George Oakley.United boss Scott Brown wants to sign the out-of-contract Morton striker. Oakley is also wanted by Championship rivals Partick Thistle and has been offered a new deal by Morton boss Dougie Imrie.
The 28-year-old did well for ‘Ton last season and Brown believes he could help to give Ayr more of a cutting edge. Oakley is currently weighing up his options.
The Englishman has a wealth of experience in the Championship with spells at Inverness. Oakley has also turned out for Hamilton and Kilmarnock.
Imrie has offered him a deal but looks set to lose another key player. Robbie Muirhead has joined Livingston and Robbie Crawford has already signed a deal with Partick Thistle.
