Ayr United's exciting crop of youngsters will bid to move a step closer to Hampden in the Scottish Youth Cup tomorrow. The under 18s, coached by Shaun Ferrie and John Crawford, take on Partick Thistle at Cumnock's Townhead Park (kick-off 2pm) in the quarter final stage of the competition.Ferrie believes it's a while since Ayr have had a group as talented as the one aiming to go all the way and reach the showpiece final.

And he's urging as many fans as possible to turn out and show their support for the youngsters tomorrow. He told the Ayrshire Post: "We go into the game with confidence.

We have a cracking under 18s team this year with three internationalists. Ollie Ecrepont can't play in this game as he's on loan with East Stirling, but we also have Jamie Hislop, who has been representing Scotland under 16s this week, and Jack Allan who has been away with the Scottish schoolboys as well."Then you add in boys like Dylan Watret, Max Guthrie, Shaun Donnelly, Lucas McRoberts and Lewis Allan...I'm biased but you wouldn't mind any of these boys getting two year deals as apprentices with the club as they would fit in no problem. "For us the aim is to get one step closer to Hampden.

It's a great lift with the new first team management setup coming in this week and this is a big game for the boys to go out and impress in.
