The princess of pop-punk confronted the protester on stage at the Juno Awards. Avril, who is from Ontario, Canada, was at the music awards and festival in Edmonton, to introduce Punjabi-Canadian rapper and singer AP Dhillon. While the pop-rocker read from a teleprompter, a topless protester came up behind her with ‘Save the Greenbelt’ written on her back and ‘Land Back’ on her inner arms.
The environmentalist is thought to have done this in protest of the Ontario government which issued new regulations to remove 7,400 acres of protected Greenbelt land and open it up for housing, which has been widely criticised by environmental campaigners.
