Avanti passengers are being warned that the number of trains operating during the pre-Christmas getaway will be 'significantly reduced' after the announcement of three days of strike action over the festive period.
Train managers at Avanti West Coast, who operate the only direct trains between Manchester and London, are walking out in a row over rest-day working.
Guards who are members of the RMT are taking industrial action in protest against the firm's latest proposals for staff working on their rest days, which they say are 'inadequate.' In a post on its website, the company said: "On these dates, customers should expect timetables and operating hours to be reduced significantly and note that services that do run are expected to be busy.
