Australia’s Nine Entertainment Reshuffles Exec Ranks, Sets $31 Million Cost-Cutting Target

Naman Ramachandran Australian media giant Nine Entertainment Co. is undergoing a major organizational overhaul, announcing a streamlined operating model and fresh executive appointments as it targets AUD50 million ($31 million) in cost reductions for fiscal year 2025.

The company will consolidate its operations into three core divisions: streaming and broadcast, publishing, and marketplaces.

In a key move, Nine has tapped industry veteran Amanda Laing to head the newly formed streaming and broadcast unit, which encompasses streamer Stan, livestream, video on demand, and catch-up TV service 9Now, broadcast television and radio.

Laing joins from Foxtel Group, where she served as chief commercial and content officer, and managing director at Binge. Publishing chief Tory Maguire will see her portfolio expand to include nine.com.au alongside the company’s prestigious mastheads The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Australian Financial Review.
