Aslan the lion has arrived in Salford as excitement builds for this year's Christmas show at The Lowry. C.S Lewis' much-loved The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe was initially set for a seven-week run here in 2020, but was cancelled amid the pandemic.
Now it's finally happening and the 40kg puppet of one of the main characters, Aslan, has been suspended majestically in the Salford theatre's main foyer until early 2022.
Aslan, which is made from aluminium, timber and cane and is covered in fabric and paper, is one of three versions created for the stage show and was used during the production's run at The Bridge Theatre, London in 2019/20.
