Wales have qualified for the first time since 1958. The incident that saw him charged allegedly occurred following an exchange between his son and an opponent during an East Manchester Junior Football League (EMJFL) match between Corinthians and Williams’s TSC United on September 18.

We have 45 witnesses – including people associated with the two teams who were about to use the pitch – who will back up our version of events and we will defend Ashley vigorously. ”A BBC spokesperson said: “This is a personal matter for Ashley and the sport’s governing body. ”News of Williams’ charge came a day after the EMJFL issued a statement announcing a “zero-tolerance stance” towards threatening and violent conduct by “managers, coaches, parents and spectators”.
Released by West Bromwich Albion when a teeenager, Williams had a stint in non-league football before joining Stockport County.
