Freddie Ljungberg has revealed Arsenal turned down an important request while he was interim manager before replacing him Mikel Arteta.
Gunners legend Ljungberg was put in temporary charge of the club when Unai Emery was sacked last December. The Swede was working as the first-team coach when Emery was given the boot, and took charge of six games before Arteta was brought in.
It was not clear how long Ljungberg would be given the reins for as the club searched for a new long-term appointment.
