Arrest made after armed police called to reports of men fighting with weapons

A man has been arrested after reports of two groups of men fighting in the street. Armed police officers were called to the scene in Denton, Tameside, on Monday morning after the reports suggested weapons were involved.

The M.E.N. understands a machete was witnessed and cars were potentially damaged, but that hasn't been confirmed by police, who are investigating and have now issued an appeal for witnesses.

It's also understood a nearby school, Denton Community College, was alerted to the developing situation by Greater Manchester Police.
