A US Army Green Beret has been charged with murder after three men were shot dead at a bowling alley in a "random attack". Active serviceman Duke Webb faces three counts of murder and three of attempted murder following the shooting at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford, Illinois.

The three as yet unnamed victims were aged 73, 69 and 65, while a teenage boy and girl and another man were also injured. The boy, 14, is said to be in a stable condition after being shot in the face, while the girl, 16, has been released from hospital after being treated for a gunshot to the shoulder.

A 62-year-old man was shot multiple times and remains in a critical condition, according to The Chicago Tribune. Police Chief Dan O'Shea said investigators do not believe
