Arbroath have been left counting the cost of Gayfield duo Jay Bird and Jermain Hylton fighting EACH other in a bizarre bust-up during a 1-1 Championship draw with Dunfermline.It's been a difficult season for the Gayfield side who are fighting for second tier survival under new boss Jim McIntyre, following legendary boss Dick Campbell's exit.
They were leading 1-0 against the Pars before Bird walked over to Hylton after a missed chance 16 minutes from time. What ensued was a barmy reminiscent of Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer's infamous Newcastle scrap as players of both teams were forced to step in and separate the Arbroath pair.Both were booked but with Bird already on a yellow, he walked.
It was his first half strike that put the Red Litchies ahead but it aas was cancelled out in injury-time by Dunfermline's Craig Wighton.
One spectator called it an "extraordinary on-field punch up" while another said "I simply can not believe what we've just witnessed today.
