The Apprentice 2023 winner Marnie Swindells has opened up about the death of her dad when she was just eight years old, and how the traumatic time has aided her success.
Marnie, 28, became the newest business partner of Lord Alan Sugar’s after beating fellow The Apprentice finalist Rochelle Anthony and took home a £250,000 investment from the billionaire to go towards her boxing gym.The winner briefly touched upon the devastating loss of her father as a child while on the popular BBC programme, but has now gone into more detail about her dad’s death and spoke about how it pushed her to succeed.
Marnie’s dad was only 47 when he died and, while the 28 year old didn’t share his cause of death, she said it was an accident.Two days after his death, a then-eight year old Marnie took part in a school play as her mum encouraged her to “carry on”.
Speaking to MailOnline, Marnie recalled: "My dad died very suddenly while we were in the caravan when he was 47. I saw the whole thing happen and I was actually the person that got the ambulance." She went on: "He died on a Tuesday and on the Friday night I played Sandy in Grease and was up on stage singing and dancing.
