Antonio Portales reckons it is about time Dundee lifted one of Scotland’s major trophies again.It has been more than 50 years since the Dark Blues won the 1973 League Cup final.
That history is even longer in the Scottish Cup, going back to 1910 since they last got their hands on it. Portales knows it has been far too long and Tony Docherty’s side are keen to try and put that right.They can look forward to their Premier Sports Cup quarter-final where they face Rangers a Ibrox.
The Mexican said: “The team has a very good opportunity right now against Rangers. We can say ‘Dundee FC is here’. We have worked hard to have this opportunity.
It is our objective to win a trophy or something. All the players have the same objective.“It’s been too long since Dundee won a trophy, and 21 years since the club went to a semi-final is too long.
