Jim Goodwin has revealed Anthony Stewart’s red card madness at Hampden won’t cost him the Aberdeen captaincy. The big defender was sent off for a rash and needless challenge on Fashion Sakala and then the Dons went on to crash in extra-time to Rangers.
There have been some major questions raised within a large element of the Red Army whether he should remain with the armband after a rollercoaster start to his Pittodrie career.
Goodwin, who takes his injury-hit squad to Hearts on Wednesday, said: “I brought Anthony to the club. He is a great leader, a top character and is great around the place.
He has a great relationship with the rest of the squad members. He is a very professional guy and that is why I made him captain.
