In February 2022, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly's drag act on their hit show Saturday Night Takeaway received 59 Ofcom complaints.The hosting duo returned for the first show of the 18th series as they donned wigs and sparkly dresses to perform in drag.
While the End Of The Show Show was celebrated by many, some viewers were outraged and claimed the performance was 'misogynistic'.The UK's broadcasting regulator Ofcom said it received 59 complaints related to a drag routine and eight complaints related to a prank made against Jeremy Clarkson.
But 59 complaints is relatively low in comparison to some of these explosive TV moments... Love Island Ofcom received more than 2,500 complaints after Love Island's Dani Dyer cried because she thought Jack Fincham was going to cheat on her in 2018.
People believed the producers of the show allowed her to believe Jack was going to cheat on her in order to make good TV. Viewers didn't think her feelings or mental health were considered.
