he annual Scottish Poppy Appeal begins officially in Dumfries this weekend.A stall will be set up in the Loreburne Shopping Centre from 10am on Saturday and will be open until November 13.William Turner, honorary president of the Royal British Legion Dumfries and Maxwelltown branch, said: “Scotland usually raises about £2 million with Dumfries and Galloway around £18,000 to £20,000.“Donations were down across Scotland by 28 per cent because of Covid-19 last year but locally it was down just eight per cent which shows the generosity of people in Dumfries and the hard work of the Legion team.“There is even more of a need to look after veterans because of Covid-19 sadly.“Morrisons have also organised a system where you can make a donation as
