New Hibs boss Nick Montgomery has been given the highest seal of approval an A-League alumnus can hope for - a ringing endorsement from Ange Postecoglou. The former Central Coast Mariners head coach takes over from Lee Johnson at Easter Road and has high ambitions after a stagnant few years in Leith.
He comes highly rated having won the Australian top flight with Mariners - a feat Postecoglou achieved with Yokohama F.Marinos before joining Celtic in 2021.It's hoped Montgomery can chart a similar path and take off in Europe just like Postecoglou, who was named the Barclays manager of the month after a stunning start to life at Tottenham.
And Postecoglou reckons Hibs have landed a winner with Montgomery, who he's tipped for success at a "big club" in Edinburgh. “Nick has done brilliantly in Australia.
He did a fantastic job at a club that it is fair to say in Australia is not considered one of the big ones and won the whole thing last year.“He has done it in a great way where he has developed young players and great he gets the opportunity.
