Andy Robertson is now the defender with the most assists in Premier League history. The Scotland skipper is now out on his own after setting up Mo Salah’s opener at Aston Villa in the 5.30 kick-off at Villa Park.

Robertson found himself on the right hand side of the box following a corner, and was picked out thanks to a great pass from fellow fullback Trent Alexander Arnold.

Ever the lefty, he sent a first time ball across the box with his stringer foot which was inch perfect, allowing the Egyptian to tap home from close range to put Jurgen Klopp’s men in front.Robertson thought he'd bagged another when Joel Matip scored with a looping header from the Scot's free-kick delivery, having been fouled himself.

But the offside flag went up against the Liverpool defender. The tee up was Robertson’s 54th assist since making the move from Dundee United to Hull City in 2014 - with commentator Clive Tyldesley noting that is the most from any defender in Premier League history.
