Experienced Andy Considine continues to see huge potential in Connor McLennan.Considine, who has been a star performer since joining Saints in the summer, played alongside him when at Aberdeen and knows him better than most.McLennan (23) joined the Perth club on loan from the Dons in September for the season and has shown flashes of excellence, including a strong show off the bench in Dingwall last weekend.“I know what Connor is capable of because I saw him come through the youths at Aberdeen,” Considine said.“Then I played with him when he broke into the team at Pittodrie and he was unplayable at times.“He played out wide on the right and no full-backs could get near him, he was brilliant.“So I saw how good he could be but umpteen injuries got him and he fell out of the squad a bit.“But when I heard about the interest we had in him I thought ‘perfect’ and told him to get away from Aberdeen, come here, play and concentrate on the football.“Sometimes all it can take is six months of great football and you’re flying again.“The next thing you know you’re getting a move on the back of it.”Considine added: “I know him, he’s shy and needs an arm round the shoulder now and again.“He needs someone to tell him how good he is, build him up and if you do that with him he’ll show it.“He’s showing it when he comes on, he’s strong again, he’s quick and he’s capable of hurting teams.“Connor could do with adding more goals to his game but that will come.“He’s a huge asset to our squad and as soon as I heard he was coming, I said to the boys if we can get him he could be huge for us.“He’s not a natural striker but he can come on, stretch games and bully defenders.
