Andy Considine reveals Aberdeen exit left him 'scared' as he prepares for emotional Pittodrie return with St Johnstone

Only 90 miles separate Aberdeen and Perth but for Andy Considine that drive in the summer was the biggest journey he’s ever likely to take in his football career.The defender openly admits the thought of leaving the Dons after two decades of service in his hometown left him scared.

Having risen to fourth in the Pittodrie all-time record appearances list over an 18-year spell the 35-year-old longed to finish his playing days as a one-team wonder with the side his dad also represented.

But as he prepares to return ‘home’ for the first time as an opposition player with St Johnstone this weekend Considine now accepts that cutting ties with his boyhood club in the summer has, in fact, got his career motoring again.That 90-mile stretch of the A90 has become a daily commute.

And Considine has embraced it just like he has faced up almost every tackle and aerial challenge since making his breakthrough in May 2004.
