Ethan Shanfeld Diego Luna’s rebellion intensifies in the trailer for Season 2 of “Andor.” The “Star Wars” series, which chronicles the events leading up to the 2016 feature film “Rogue One,” will stream on Disney+ beginning April 22.
The first season of the show — created and executive produced by “Rogue One” co-writer Tony Gilroy — takes place over the course of roughly a year in the life of Cassian Andor (Luna), as he transforms from a small-time criminal to a man prepared to join the fight against the Galactic Empire as the vestiges of the Rebel Alliance begin to form.
The trailer also introduces series newcomers Ben Mendelsohn, Alan Tudyk and Forest Whitaker. Along with Luna, the returning cast includes Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Faye Marsay and Varada Sethu.
The 12-episode second season will be split into four chapters of three episodes each. Each chapter will cover a few consecutive days in each successive year before the events of “Rogue One.” “One of the great thrills of making ‘Andor’ is the scale of the story and the number of characters we’re able to meet — ordinary people, Imperial overlords, passionate revolutionaries,” Gilroy said in a statement teasing the season. “They are real people making epic decisions, all of them staring down questions with terrifying consequences.
