Amy Dowden ‘not looking forward to birthday’ as she shares one wish in brave cancer battle

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has opened up about marking her 33rd birthday amid her breast cancer battle. The professional dancer shared that she had been diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer back in May, and has now discussed her ongoing health battle and how it had let to her not looking forward to her birthday.

Taking to Instagram, Amy shared a photo of her twin sister, wishing her a happy birthday, before going on to explain that she had not been looking forward to her own birthday on Thursday 10 August.

She wrote: "I wasn’t looking forward to this birthday. At the moment any milestone or event is a bigger reminder and hurts. "Im far from what I should and normally doing, in the rehearsal room with my strictly family.

But all your wishes this morning have certainly cheered me up." She then encouraged her followers to check their own breasts, writing: "This year my birthday wish is for all to take the time to check themselves! @coppafeelpeople have so many useful resources [prayer hands emoji] [heart emoji]! "Doesn’t take long!
