‘American Rust’ Canceled at Amazon After Streamer Rescued Show for Season 2
variety.comJoe Otterson TV Reporter “American Rust” has been canceled again. Amazon Prime Video has opted not to move forward with a third season of the series, Variety has confirmed.
Amazon had picked up a second season of the series after it was canceled at its original network home, Showtime, in January 2022.
It was originally slated to air on Freevee before it was shifted to Prime Video. All 10 episodes of the second season dropped on March 28.
The first season of the show was based on the Philipp Meyer novel of the same name. Season 2 of “American Rust” was officially titled “American Rust: Broken Justice.” Jeff Daniels led the series along with Maura Tierney, David Alvarez, Alex Neustaedter, Julie Mayorga, Mark Pellegrino, Rob Yang, and Kyle Beltran.
