passed away at age 60 on Sept. 30. A rep for the reality star told TMZ that he died from the effects of a stroke he had years ago.
Fritz also had Crohn’s disease for decades, which could have played a role.The rep noted to the outlet that Fritz was in a Quad Cities hospice facility and was surrounded by friends, including Wolfe, at the time of his death.Wolfe made posts on Instagram and Facebook Tuesday to share the news that Fritz died Monday night.“It’s with a broken heart that I share with all of you that Frank passed away last night,” he wrote.He continued, “I’ve [known] Frank for more then half my life and what you’ve seen on TV has always been what I have seen, a dreamer who was just as sensitive as he was funny.
The same off camera as he was on, Frank had a way of reaching the hearts of so many by just being himself.”Fritz was hospitalized for a stroke two years before his death. “Before the show we would take off together to places we never knew existed with no destination in mind and just the shared passion to discover something interesting and historic,” added Wolfe, 60. “We’ve been on countless trips and shared so many miles.”The star concluded his post by writing, “I feel blessed that I was there by his side when he took one last journey home.
I love you buddy and will miss you so much I know you’re in a better place.”The duo started co-hosting “American Pickers” in 2010, traveling the US in search of rare artifacts and treasures to sell in antique shops or add to their personal collections.
