American Idol‘s Laine Hardy is speaking out after he was issued an arrest warrant.“Earlier today, I received a warrant due to allegations made against me and have been fully cooperative with the Louisiana State University Police Department,” the 21-year-old musician wrote in a statement shared via Twitter on Thursday, April 28. “I understand that my career has thrust me into the public spotlight, and I embrace that wholeheartedly as my entire world belongs to my music and my fans.

However, due to the sensitive nature of this allegation, I humbly ask for privacy at this time.”Hardy continued: “I have the utmost respect for the law and will assist in their investigation as needed moving forward.”The “Tiny Town” singer didn’t specify what he was accused of or what charges he may be facing.

Local Louisiana news outlet WAFB reported on Thursday that Hardy turned himself in to the LSU authorities before being brought to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for booking.A spokesperson for LSU later noted in a statement to Us Weekly: “Lane Reed Hardy (Non-LSU student) was arrested by LSU Police today and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for violation of 15:1303 — Interception and Disclosure of Wire, Electronic, or Oral Communication.

His arrest warrant has been filed with clerk of court.”Viewers watched Hardy compete on season 17 of American Idol, which began airing in March 2019.
