A man burst into tears as he was jailed for having sexual communications with a ‘child’ online after asking a judge: “Am I going to prison now?” Abdulhamed Solten, 26, began messaging the girl, aged 13, on Facebook Messenger.
He didn’t know he was speaking to an adult decoy who worked for a vigilante group. She repeatedly told him that she was 13, to which he accepted she was ‘too young’ and even said: “If your family check, it’s not good”.
He then turned the conversation overtly sexual before asking her to perform a sex act upon herself and ‘send him a video’ of her doing it.
Solten, of Longsight, was accosted by the group at Manchester Victoria station, before he was arrested. He admitted attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and was jailed at Manchester Crown Court.
